Every November 11th, we have a traditional celebration of St. Martin. The kindergarten children light lanterns made by themselves and sing to celebrate the generosity of the great character that was St. Martin, a soldier of the Roman army in the fourth century, who one day after meeting a beggar, decided to dedicate his life to helping the needy.
On December 6th, we celebrate the day of St. Nicholas, a very generous bishop who spent his life helping the neediest families, and in the evenings, he would leave little bags of food at the door of the house.
Today, on the evening of December 5-6, children leave their clean shoes and boots or a plate in front of the door, and St. Nicholas leaves them chocolates, tangerines, nuts, and cookies. In Kindergarten, Nikolaus visits the children on this date and brings them some surprises.
The Christmas Evening is an activity in which all school parents participate with the teachers in making a traditional German Christmas surprise for their children.
In this evening the parents share with other families, in a pleasant evening with music and food.
According to tradition, in german springtime, the Easter Bunny paints eggs and hides them in the garden. On Easter, Sunday families get together, have breakfast to celebrate this feast, and the children look for the eggs.
At the school, we celebrate this feast on the Friday before the Easter vacation.
The Easter bunny hides cooked and decorated eggs, and as a trace of his visit, he leaves carrots scattered all over the garden and a little bag with a surprise for the children.
