Home » Teams and OneNote as tools to bring students closer during virtuality
Virtuality was very challenging for teachers. Little by little we were able to master the tool that would enable us to get closer to our students, to get to know them and their homes. Teams helped us learn, and as a platform, evolved with us, adapting to our needs. It helped us making group works, creating rooms and being able to participate in them as teachers; besides, students were able to use emojis to show their opinions, give feedback and reveal their emotions.
My nomination was based on the use of Teams as a tool for communicating and getting closer to the students and their families, and on the use of OneNote as part of my classes. One Note simulated a board in the classroom that helped me explain with more precision. With One Note I had control over planning the classes and their development. I could send a screenshot to the children who could not be in class or did not have all the information in their notebooks. I used pictures of the books that we used to work together in real time and even videos to watch together during class.
One Note helped me a lot to manage the notebook with the option of lines or grid. Being nominated as a Microsoft Expert enabled me to reflect on my teaching process and how technology helped me and my colleagues continue educating from home during pandemic, giving our students a sense of community and group.
