The continuous development of socio-emotional skills is an integral part of our pedagogical concept. This is reflected both in the professional development of our teaching staff and in our work with the children. An important component is the “Klassenrat”, which we can translate as “Class Council.” In the Klassenrat, the focus is on joint decision-making. The goal is to develop and practice constructive methods of conflict resolution, with an emphasis on seeking consensus among all those involved.
In addition to the comprehensive academic program, which also includes numerous remedial class initiatives, our students have the opportunity to enroll in more than 60 Extracurricular Activities. These range from model building to horseback riding, allowing students to choose according to their personal interests.
Numerous bicultural festivals, such as Ostern (Easter) and Karneval, complement our school routine. Projects and activities organized together with other international schools in Bogotá provide children with opportunities to look beyond the boundaries of their own school. Bazaars, concerts, and competitions allow students to experience school as a true community.
The school community of Colegio Andino is a complex institution with many facets. In the primary school, we have set ourselves the goal of supporting our students and their families during this crucial phase of their development.

Dear Families,
We warmly welcome you to the Primary School section of our Colegio and thank you for your interest. We are located in a privileged area on the Bogotá savannah, right next to a nature reserve. This unique setting allows children to enjoy recess among the trees of our ecological corridor and see horses grazing nearby.
Primary education at our school covers Grades 1 through 4 (Grade 1 being equivalent to the Transition level in the Colombian education system). Each morning, around 500 enthusiastic children between the ages of 6 and 10 arrive dressed in their uniforms. Our team consists of more than 50 teachers, supported by collaborators, parents, friends, and guests — all of whom are part of our community. Classes begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m., organized into six classes per grade, with approximately 20 students in each.
Most of our subjects are taught in German by bilingual or native-speaking teachers. Our curriculum is developed based on the guidelines of both the German and Colombian Ministries of Education, while being adapted to the needs of our students. We also maintain close collaboration with the Kindergarten and Intermediate sections, ensuring a smooth transition between levels.
In Primary School, foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics are strengthened. In addition, children take part in sports, music, and arts activities, ensuring a balance between academic and non-academic learning. In science classes, for example, students learn that the vegetables served in the cafeteria come from our own school vegetable garden.
