In 2014, the “Sportschule Friedrich Ludwig Jahn” Sports School of Potsdam and the Colegio Andino created a Sports and Cultural cooperation agreement that is still in effect today. These ties are born thanks to the excellent relationship of two former sportsmen of that institution, who were also teachers at our school: Ralf Janicke and Jan Fischer.
This cooperation offers outstanding athletes the possibility to travel to the city of Potsdam, Germany, every two years and experience the organization and structure of German elite sports for two weeks, as well as seeing the country’s emblematic tourist sites.
Physical Education teachers and students attend training sessions with Olympic-level professionals and world-class athletes. They share experiences and work sessions and can learn the training methodologies of an Olympic cycle first-hand. They also get to know the general sports organization of an Olympic powerhouse such as Germany from within.
Seventeen athletes from the Colegio Andino are selected for their sports, academic and disciplinary level, to attend and participate in training sessions in the disciplines of soccer, volleyball, handball, athletics, judo, and boating for two weeks. They also have the possibility of experiencing German culture by getting to know the city of Potsdam, Berlin and carrying out cultural activities in the region.
For two weeks, German students have the opportunity to learn about Colombian culture. These young people stay with host families of our institution and carry out different cultural activities to immerse themselves in the peculiarities of our country. In addition, they attend daily classes and training at the Colegio Andino.
Students of the Friedrich Ludwig Jahn School have the possibility of doing an academic and cultural exchange at the Colegio Andino. The objective of this program is for German students to get to know everything about our culture from within a Colombian family. At the same time, they attend classes at our institution and thus, have a significant cultural exchange experience in Colombia.
Outstanding athletes of the Colegio Andino can apply for their six-month academic exchange at the Potsdam Sports School. Students must meet the following requirements:
In the future, we aim to carry out several exchanges for the teachers and trainers of these two institutions. Our goal is to learn each country’s work methodologies, strengthen the link between these two institutions every day, and continue fostering a reciprocal alliance between Colegio Andino and Sport Schule Potsdam.
We hope to consolidate this cooperation agreement more and more each day to strengthen Colegio Andino’s international relations further.
